Understanding Genital Herpes: Symptoms
and Relief
Genital herpes is one of the most feared diseases, not because it’s life threatening but rather, because there is no cure for it. Nor does it help that the disease is associated with irresponsibility and becomes a socially tainted disease in most people’s eyes. The HSV (herpes simplex virus) strain, viral perpetrator of genital herpes, shall stay forever within the confines of your body.
If you are curious about genital herpes, the first things to understand
are its symptoms and relief methods for the disease.
SYMPTOMS OF GENITAL HERPES
Projected statistics declare that half of the number of people infected
by HSV 2 suffers from it only asymptomatically. Hence, the infected may
unknowingly
transmit the disease to other people through mere contact and or exchange
of bodily fluids. The rest, however, may have key symptoms which we could
be aware of.
The first symptoms of genital herpes are deceptively no cause for alarm
and quite common. Fever, malaise and muscle aches – these may easily be
contributed to stress or over fatigue.
The second stage of symptoms is only slightly less common. Burning,
itching and heightened sensitivity is felt in affected areas – usually near
the genital region and around thighs and buttocks. The easily worried individual
or hypochondriac would no doubt consult a physician right after. In fact – and
this is said off topic – it is not a bad habit to have.
It is the third and last stage of symptoms that one begins to have
dark suspicions about genital herpes. Blisters begin to show up
in the affected
areas. These
are painful to touch and take a maximum of 14 days to heal.
RELIEF METHODS FOR GENITAL HERPES
Despite the fact that there is no known cure for genital herpes,
people suffering from the ailment must not feel disheartened.
Just like how
it is with diabetes,
the right lifestyle, proper diet, therapy and medication can
largely contribute in assuaging the pain and discomfort associated with
genital herpes. Eat
food that is high in lysine but low in arginine. Include suppressive
therapies for genital herpes as part of your routine. Have warm
baths regularly.
Refrain from sexual intercourse to let your wounds heal properly.
Wear cotton underwear
to speed up healing time. And last but certainly never the least,
ask your physicians about what medication to take. While these
of course
can not
serve as a permanent cure, these methods do help in alleviating
the pain caused
by genital herpes.
