Effective Treatments Against Genital Herpes

Whenever someone finds himself or herself suffering from genital herpes, the first thing they always ask is effective treatments available for genital herpes. They are horrified afterwards when they realize that there’s no effective treatment against genital herpes because there is no cure.

Rather, they should start looking for an effective treatment that would suppress and provide relief from genital herpes symptoms.

We will be dividing treatments for genital herpes between two categories – natural and medicinal. We will start with the first one.

Natural treatments for genital herpes may not be as effective as the latter method but if you combine it with medication, it may prove to be a successful combative strategy against genital herpes. Warm baths, for one, always prove to be helpful to those with painful blisters or lesions caused by genital herpes. Warm water soothes away the pain but make sure that you cleanse blisters or lesions very gently.

Secondly, you can try having a diet that’s high in lysine but low in arginine. Results made on this aspect reveal no harmful side effects so no need to worry about aggravating your condition further. Lysine reduces the frequency of recurrence of genital herpes as well as decreasing the pain and healing time for genital relief symptoms.

Examples of food that are high in lysine but low in arginine are margarine, yogurt, cheese, papaya, milk, sherbet, ice cream, mango, apple, coffee cream, dried pear, eggnog, loquat, fig, avocado, salmon, eel, tuna in water, cod, mackerel, carp, pike, herring, dried sardines in oil, tomato, turnips, bass, halibut, soybean sprouts, wild pheasant, summer sausage, pineapple, pork leg, potato, chicken breast, cream of mushroom soup, beef noodle soup, persimmon, boneless ham, wild quail, domesticated goose, beef, plum, green beans, brotwurst, cauliflower, romaine lettuce, liver, guava, spinach, corn, abalone, oysters, banana, asparagus, oat flakes, mayonnaise, shrimp, crab, pumpkins, broccoli, carrots, dates, eggplant, snails, orange, yams, garlic, macadamia nuts, blackberries, peanut butter, pecans, sesame seeds, walnuts and grape juice.

Medical treatments for genital herpes are more effective but have more possible side effects. There are four types of medicine available in the market and that serves as treatment against genital herpes. Most of these are oral medications like acyclovir but for those with the worst cases of genital herpes, treatments may translate to intravenous medication. Do not by any means take medication without prior consultation of your physician first as medication such as Foscarnet has toxic effects such as kidney malfunctions.
