Accepting Genital Herpes As A Part Of Life
It’s been confirmed. You are infected, not with AIDS thank heavens
but unfortunately, by something which is bad. You are infected with HSV 1
or 2, the virus responsible for genital herpes. And the worst thing about
it is that there is no known cure for genital herpes.
BACK TO THE PAST
You have your suspicions but you still want irrefutable proof that you
truly have one of the most feared sexually transmitted diseases in
the planet.
Chances are, you’ll be asked to take either of these tests to determine
the cause behind your symptoms: the Tzanck test which is also used for chicken
pox or submitting your DNA for testing to determine if HSV 1 or 2 has entered
your system. Results provided by these tests are accurate so if it’s
positive….it’s positive.
COMPLICATIONS
A lot of complications arise from being affected of genital herpes and
most of these impact women alone. Being pregnant and affected by genital
herpes,
for example, is a threat not only to the pregnant mother but also to her
unborn infant. Infection of genital herpes may lead the child to suffer
from conditions like herpetic meningitis, herpetic viremia, chronic skin
infection
and worse, it may lead to the infant’s untimely death. Being infected
with genital herpes may also increase the chances of having cancer on the
cervix – the odds against you are intensified even more if a strain
of HPV or human papiloma virus has entered your body also. HPV is responsible
for genital warts.
EMOTIONAL ADJUSTMENT
Indubitably, the life you knew will be no more once it’s confirmed
that you have genital herpes. It will cramp your social life, maybe even
destroy, because it will be difficult to find someone to understand and accept
what you’re going through. But always remember that it was not your
choice to have this and if you need psychological or emotional help, there
are therapists and genital herpes support groups to help you out with your
dilemma.
GO FOR TREATMENTS AND RELIEF MEDICATIONS
Although there is no cure for genital herpes, there are at least relief
medications and treatments that you can take to reduce the symptoms and
frequency of
recurrence. Be reminded however that it’s extremely better if you consult
with your doctor first before taking any kind of medication, even if it’s
recommended by someone you love. What works for others, after all, may
not work for you.
